New Government Takes Shape

Following the unexpected General election result Theresa May is in the process of forming a new government with support from the DUP. A Queens Speech is expected some time next week. I am sure not many of our readers expected to see a hung parliament if most of the Polls had been right. Clearly YouGov got something right.

So what does this all mean for existing Sport and physical activity policy?

Polling Day - What Happens Next?

Election time is usually a good time for policy makers to find time to slow down and reflect on the delivery of the past election manifestos and pour over the Party plans for the next Parliament. Good civil servants will have plans in place for every political eventuality on Friday morning.

Getting Tough on Sports Governance

This week saw the publication of a Charter for Sports Governance in the United Kingdom. Good governance has been at the heart of DCMS sport policy for some time but the new government strategy has signalled a stronger adherence will be required to secure public money.
