Women and the sport sector: leadership, investment and international competitiveness

Date: Thu, 10 May 2018, 08:30 - 13:00

Venue: Central London (tbc)

This seminar focuses on the priorities for industry and policy in developing the role of women across all levels of the UK sport sector.

With UK Sport setting out in its governance code a target of at least 30% gender diversity on boards for all sporting organisations in receipt of public funding, sessions will consider how to improve gender equality in leadership, decision making and the wider workforce - as well as assessing the future role of women in shaping sports policy.

In the context of the growing interest in women's sport, further sessions examine opportunities for increasing participation, widening audiences, attracting investment and raising the profile of women's sport globally.

Attendees will also assess what further support can be offered to enable athletes transitioning from grassroots to elite sport to overcome barriers, and maintain the UK's international competitiveness.
