Wembley stadium hosted its first American football game (friendly) in 1984, and the New Wembley (opened in 2007) has hosted games during the regular NFL season.
The St Louis Rams have now been named as the first franchise to play regular-season games abroad on an annual basis, for the next three years. The Rams already have a strong London connection with owner Stan Kronke holding a majority stake in Arsenal FC.
The NFL has confirmed, however that the Rams vs New England Patriots match will be the only NFL match to take part in the UK this season.
