Following the Daily Telegraph article 'BOA asks Lottery for £2 million to help fund biggest-ever Team GB' (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/9253194/London-2012-Olympics-BOA-asks-Lottery-for-2-million-to-help-fund-biggest-ever-Team-GB.html), UK Sport has issued the below statement.

A UK Sport spokesperson said: "UK Sport is aware of the financial pressures facing the BOA in this unique home Games environment. We are therefore giving this request for National Lottery funding serious consideration. Athletes preparing for the London Games require the best possible environment when they transfer from their World Class Programme into Team GB for Games time. This is the responsibility of the BOA and with the Games looming we are conscious of the need to help resolve this issue to maximise the impact the significant investment UK Sport and The National Lottery have already made in our sports and athletes in preparation."
