Government Reshuffle brings new SoS to DCMS

The Prime Minister reshuffled his government yesterday making way for new members of the Cabinet. The promotion of Jeremey Hunt to the Department for Health paved way for Maria Miller to be appointed as Secretary of State for DCMS.

Andy Reed said "it was a surprise for Hunt to be so warmly rewarded in the reshuffle consider the lack of support for him in parts fo the coalition for his handing of BskyB and the Levelson inquiry. He seems to have benefitted from the Olympic glow.

"We are slightly surprised by the appointment of Maria Miller but lets be honest the SoS role in DCMS has always been used as a training ground for Caninet newcomers. Whilst she has no obvious links or interest in sort it does mean she will be willing to listen & learn - hopefully.

" if Hugh Robertson has kept his job that will be welcome as we hope he can start to impact on a proper legacy from the Games. I am sure we will look a little deeper at other appointments in other departments and what they might mean for sport"
