Report on Mental Health in Elite Sport

A report from the mental health charity MIND, "Performance Matters: Mental Health in Elite Sport" highlights the dangers of elite athletes suffering mental health problems in silence rather than speak about them through fear that it will affect their careers. According to the document, the support available for athletes in sport when it comes to mental health is inadequate at best. Despite an increasing number of high-profile athletes suffering from mental health problems MIND found that individuals and players associations such as the PFA, PCA and RPA are taking the lead in looking after athletes' mental health, rather than clubs and employers.
