Business Secretary Sajid Javid used a speech at London's Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre to argue that the ever-changing sport landscape is ready for business to step in and play a more important role in growing the sector and increasing participation. He highlighted business success stories in sport such as Goals and ParkRun, as well as the economic impacts of The Premier League and major events hosted in the UK.

Sports Think Tank Director Andy Reed said "This is a welcome recognition of the importance of sport and its economic impact at home and internationally. As our own research has shown the old lines are starting to blur around who delivers which part of the sports offer and this has to be welcomed. New products and offerings with disrupter's creating new markets for new participants can work in partnership with existing providers or just offer new opportunities.

"I think we will see in the new Sports Strategy a theme emerging that whoever is best placed to deliver a new service or offering should be given the opportunity to do so. The smarter NGBs and charities are learning to work with these new entrants to market and embracing their energy"
