Sport England Call for Evidence

Sport England has issued a call for evidence around the impact of sport.

In 2017, the national body commissioned a review of evidence on the contribution of community sport and physical activity to the outcomes in Sporting Future, the Government's strategy for sport.

The call issued this week stated: "Whether it be on physical or mental wellbeing, or social, community or economic development, we need your unpublished grey literature – eg evaluation reports – since July 1 2016, by November 2, to help our review."

The review aims to gather evidence which illustrates the effect or impact of participation in sport and physical activity on those five key outcomes, and highlights the processes by which they are achieved.

It added: "If you work in an organisation that runs, funds, or works in any way with sport and people over five years old, we need your evaluation reports to help us tell the whole story."

Sarah Mortiboys is Manager for the Sport for Development Coalition, a group of 60 organisations dedicated to promoting and using sport and physical activity to generate positive social outcomes, which is funded and supported by Sport England as well as Comic Relief and Laureus.

She said: "We call on all Coalition members, and the wider Sport for Development sector, to respond to thE call for evidence as this is an excellent opportunity to really begin to prove the impact of the sector's work."
