John Whittingdale, Conservative Member of Parliament for Maldon has been appointed to the role of Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport in the post-election cabinet reshuffle. At the dissolution of the last parliament he was serving as Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, on which he had served for ten years.
