Medical chiefs call for ban on junk food advertising in sport after Covid death rates linked to UK obesity - Telegraph

The British Medical Association is leading calls for a ban on junk food advertising within sport.

The doctors' union has joined forces with MPs and campaigners in demanding curbs on the industry's promotion of fatty and sugary food and drink brands amid clear evidence linking the UK's record coronavirus death rate to obesity.

There are calls for an outright ban on such brands within children's sport in a bid to stop more lives being cut short following a surge in unhealthy eating and inactivity during a year of national lockdowns.
