SRA Coordinates #getYourKitOn campaign

The Sport and Recreation Alliance are coordinating a grassroots sports campaign ahead of the Comprehensive Spending Review announcement on the 25th November .

The campaign #GetYourKitOn has its own mini website and calls on the millions of sports participants across the country to show their support for their local community sport. A letter has also been signed by a significant number of sports bodies outlining the case for sport investment.

Andy Reed said " This is an important time for sport and recreation. We have known for years that 'The Arts' have been powerful at times like this in making their case. It is vital that sport, recreation, activity and school sport providers all speak with a unified voice. We know the government has a financial policy of reducing the national deficit by the end of this parliament and intends to achieve this by reducing spending across 'non-protected' Departments like DCMS."However, we want to make the case that investment in sport is a a real investment as the benefits have long term benefits to the Treasury. We have enough evidence to show increased academic achievement, greater mental wellbeing and obviously the health benefits are are enormous.
