Andy Reed argues in his latest Sports Management Column that a long term repurposing for School PE & Sport is needed with a cross party political consensus.

"The more I research what is happening in Schools the more confused it becomes. There are pockets of excellent practise but all too often the experience is not good and unfocussed.

"I find dipping your toe into this debate is fascinating.. there are some very certain people around.

"I know 600 words is never enough to make a full contribution to this debate but I have been overwhelmed by the positive response to this article. It does show people care about PE, PL, School Sport and physical activity (yes i know there are many aspects to creating a healthy 16 year old child) and for this we should be grateful. We just need to unite now behind a common goal - which includes elements of all of these to fully understand what a child leaving school should have to equip them for life!
