'Physical Education Declaration' Launched by the Association for PE

The Association for Physical Education (afPE), the only physical education subject association in the UK, has launched its 'Physical Education Declaration'. The Declaration is intended to be a 'simple and but powerful message everyone could commit to and promote'.

As one of the national partners on initiatives such as the Primary PE and Sport Premium and the review of GCSE and A level qualifications, afPE believes that collaboration will achieve the best outcomes for young people and is asking stakeholders to support the declaration.

UNESCO publishes new PE guidelines for policy makers

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has called on governments to increase investment in physical education and school sport in order to make children more physically active.In a new document, entitled Quality Physical Education, Guidelines for Policy Makers, UNESCO addresses seven areas of "particular concern" identified last year in UNESCO's global review of the state of physical education.The seven areas include persistent gaps between PE policy and implementation; continuing deficiencies in curriculum time allocation; relevance and quality of PE curriculums; and the quality of initial teacher training programmes.
